8.5 Percent

70 Billion Pounds
The amount of food waste that is created in the U.S. every year ― up to 40 percent of all food. This amounts to about $165 billion of wasted food.

25 Million
The number of people who could be adequately fed by the amount of food thrown away annually in the U.S.

20 Percent
The percentage of food-insecure children whose households earn too much to qualify for most of the federal nutrition-assistance programs. Instead, these families rely on charities and nonprofit organizations to put enough food on the table.

That's not okay with us.  I doubt it is with you either.

So, now what?

At Lava Lunch we are dedicated to making sure children across the country have a Healthy Hot meal, everyday.  .

What can we do about it?  The next time you run errands, Share A Meal from your pantry: Stop by your local food bank to donate (though be sure to check beforehand what goods they’ll accept). Or, you can start a food drive of your own to raise awareness in your local community and create a positive ripple effect in your area. Last year I am proud to say that we donated to three different community food banks, and personally delivered meals to dozens of families in need.

But we want to do more.  And here's where we need your help.

Here's one small thing that we can do together.... If you were planning on trying Lava Lunch, I'll match your purchase with a donation.  For every Lava Lunch sold at Bed Bath & Beyond, we will donate Seven meals to Feeding America in your honor.

So now you can Do Good, by Eating Well - and know that when you are packing a delicious meal for your own family you are also feeding many more children than the ones who happen to be underfoot at the moment.

Please pass this on and share it with others so that we can make as large of a donation as possible!

Cheers!
